At Element Shop, our wet underfloor heating systems are an excellent choice for new build properties, seamlessly integrating into the construction process. These systems use hot water, heated by a boiler or condensing boiler, circulated through a manifold and a series of pipes to warm your space. Often paired with air source heat pumps, they ensure an even temperature throughout your home by redistributing hot air. This even heat distribution is more energy-efficient than standard radiators, especially when combined with an air source heat pump, leading to significantly lower monthly costs compared to electric underfloor heating systems. Additionally, using an electric boiler in conjunction with solar panels can further reduce your electricity bills.

Our Range

We supply a full range of wet underfloor heating systems and accessories. Whether you are looking for an individual component or a full kit, we keep it all in stock. We also provide a design service which will completely map out your heating system enabling you to ensure you have all the components and the correct amount of pipe to complete your installation.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, underfloor heating is a great way to warm your home. It’s lovely to walk on and distributes heat evenly around each corner of the room, freeing your walls from radiators, so its not surprising that the bathroom is the most popular place to install electric underfloor heating. However, it is common practice to locate the thermostat on an outside wall (typically on the landing or in the hall) with the floor probe running through the wall into the floor where the heating is installed.

Depending on which type of subfloor you have, along with the type of finished flooring you have, i.e., tiles, carpet, laminate flooring, will guide you as to which system you should be using. Wet ufh systems are usually used with stone or tiled floors but can also be used with carpet. If you are using carpet, make sure that the underlay isn’t too thick, otherwise it can act like insulation, trapping the heat under the carpet and the room won't get warm. Wet systems are also ideally suited to new builds as they are so much easier to install during construction. To retrofit into an existing house, you would need to pull up all the existing flooring to install, which can be expensive. Therefore, electric is much preferred when installing in an existing property.

XPS Insulation or Extruded polystyrene insulation which it is also known as is manufactured through an extrusion process. This process involves melting together the plastic resin with the other ingredients. The liquid formed is then continuously extruded through a die and expands during the cooling process. This then produces a closed cell rigid insulation.
