Electric Underfloor Heating on Concrete Floors

Our Harmoni smartmat 150W has been designed specifically for use on existing concrete floors. As concrete can get cold with the weather, it requires a slightly higher output than timber based floor. Providing an output of 150W/m², it provides an even amount or warmth across your floors. Whilst these are usually used on existing floors, they can also be used for new concrete floors as well. However, you may want to consider if electric is the right system for you to use if you are putting down new sub-floors. With new builds, they are often installed with wet underfloor heating as they are a lot easier to install when laying new floors and there can be cost savings over time. You should also note that if you require underfloor heating for polished concrete or slabs, you would be better served using in-screed heating cables rather than heating mats.

Underfloor Heating Kits

Creating a kit couldn’t be easier, Simply choose which size mat you need, add thermostat, and then add the fixing kit and you have everything you’ll need for a successful installation. Mix and match different size mats to accommodate the size of your room or rooms and choose between a wide range of market leading thermostats for electric underfloor heating. The fixing kits includes high strength adhesive spray for sticking the mat in places where it may require some extra adhesive, flexible conduit cable for the floor probe, and duct tape for taping down any loose edges and fixing the conduit in place.

Types of Floor Finishes Used With This System

Our electric underfloor heating mats for concrete floors have been designed for use underneath floor tiles. This includes ceramic, marble, limestone & slate. Depending on your type of installation, you may need to insulate and/or screed the floor. If this is the case, we also offer a range of insulation boards for underfloor heating and self-levelling compound which is a screed used for levelling. Our Range Of Products

Our mats are measured at 500mm wide, and lengths range between 1m and 32m in 0.5m or 1m increments. Each 1m length of matting covers an area of 0.5², so if you need to cover and area of 12m², you will need a 24m mat, 2 x 12m, or 3 x 8m lengths of mat.

Our mats have a self-adhesive mesh which sticks down to the floor and protects the cables. With an ultra-thin heating cable, and twin conductor heating cables you won’t need to worry about adding extra floor height as the cable is 3mm thick. They are suitable for all concrete floors that are using tiles for the floor covering and have an output of 150w/m². With a 100% aluminium earth sheath, an operating voltage of 230/240v and a 3m cold tail connection lead.
