Slightly different to other floor coverings, underfloor heating for laminate floors and wooden floors makes use of foil to provide heating. Sandwiched between two layers of reinforced aluminium foil in an ultra-thin heating cable that produces heat. The spacing of the heating elements and the foil ensures an even heat distribution throughout your room. Providing a continuous output of 140W/m², it provides a gentle warmth that rises upwards to heat the whole room. Used in conjunction with insulation boards, this is a great way of heating your home without wasting energy.

Our Range

We have wide range of sizes ensure to suitability for all kinds of wooden floors. Suitable for laminate floors, engineered wood, glued hardwood and other floating floors, it can be used on both concrete and timber based sub-floors. Our foils come on a roll which are all 0.5 metres wide, and lengths are available starting 2 metres long which would cover an area of 1m². The lengths of the mats go up in 1 metre increments from 2 metres up to 24 metres for coverage of 12m². However, if your room is larger than that, you can add more mats to make up the size required. Our foils benefit from an ultra-thin heating cable, twin conductor heating cables, and a 3m cold tail connection lead. They are suitable for most laminate and wooden floors and have an output of 140w/m². With a 100% aluminium earth sheath for extra safety, cable thickness is only 3mm which won’t make much difference to your overall floor height.

Installation

If you are planning to install your electric underfloor heating yourself and don’t have a huge amount of experience in doing so, we would suggest you contact us before purchasing your wooden flooring or laminate. Whilst 99% of materials are fine, this is just to ensure that your materials are compatible with this product. We’d also be happy to speak to your flooring supplier to make sure the wood flooring matches our floor heating system if that makes it easier for you.

When you are sure that you have the right materials for your project, you can purchase the foils you require, or you can convert it into a kit by adding a thermostat and a fixing kit giving you everything you need to complete your installation successfully.

Insulation for Laminate Flooring

All underfloor heating foils for laminate flooring need XPS boards as it ensures that you provide the best thermal insulation possible. This will also ensure that your running costs are as minimal as possible as you will experience very little if any heat loss through the floors. Wooden floors should be kept below 27 °C as exceeding this temperature could cause your floor to swell or shrink and lead to the floor becoming creaky. This applies to all laminate and wooden floors but especially engineered wood flooring as it’s important to control the moisture content.
